At Our School We…

After a late start, a few expected, and then some unexpected breaks Egbe MK (Missionary Kids) School has finally finished its inaugural year!  We’ve had moments of laugher and moments of tears, assignments have been passed and others have been failed, our patience tested but love has never ceased.  To celebrate the end of the year the kids developed a list…IMG_4851

10 reasons MK School is the best school…

1.  At our school we get to argue over whose turn it is, to turn on the generator.

2.  At our school we get to perform our Christmas Play on Christmas Eve.IMG_5439

3.  At our school your teacher sometimes will call you a butt-hole, and she won’t be fired! (yes, yes I did : / ).

4.  At our school it is okay to take a field trip until midnight to look at the stars and constellations.IMG_6114

5.  At our school bathroom talk is accepted and expected (we have a lot of stomach issues, okay!?).

6.  At our school we have no snow make up days.

7.  At our school you get to go home for lunch.

8.  At our school on testing days we wrap our school in caution tape.

9.  At our school we don’t wear shoes.

10. At our school Jesus is talked about, Jesus is loved, Jesus is felt!

Pray for year two, pray for future students and teachers, and PRAY our school keeps bearing beautiful, beautiful fruit!

  1. Katie, You are the heart of the definition of teacher, relationship biulder, and servant leader. I am so glad I got to know you fora short time. You are blessed and surely a blessing. Love you!

  2. God called you to EGBE to establish the school. You had limited resources – no blueprint – no school board or other teachers. Because we take so many small steps every day it can be a challenge to see the giant steps of progress that has taken place. You have done well!

  3. Debby and I are so proud of the Riddles and all they are doing in The name of God.
Teaching is fun without all the restrictions of today. Enjoy! Remember, when I couldn’t say butt hole, I called you “gooberheads”.
Prayers are continued for you both. We miss you and love you. God bless you!
    Steve & Debby

  4. Way to go Katie. Keep up the good work…..by the way, I use butt hole a lot, under my breath talking about student’s parents!

  5. What a great list of unique things about the school that the children made! I can just imagine them doing all these things. It would be wonderful to go out at midnight and watch the children watching the stars. Know you feel so blessed by these experiences.

  6. Reblogged this on Miles In Missions and commented:
I am so blessed. Words can not even begin to describe the gratitude I have for someone that would sell everything and move to Africa to educate my children. Katie Riddle is an angel from God and I truly don’t know what I would do without her in Egbe!
